Blacktown Youth Services Association

Blacktown Youth Services Association (BYSA) has been supporting disengaged and disadvantaged young people in the Blacktown community for nearly 39 years. Our strength-based, early intervention framework addresses critical issues such as mental health, homelessness, crime, and education. We provide a variety of services, including: social support, referral services, food and essentials, as well as employment and education support. These services help young people develop resilience, practical skills, and create meaningful change.

At the core of our approach is our client-centred model, which ensures young people’s voices shape the services we offer. We advocate for services that are relevant and effective, empowering young people to become skilled, engaged members of their communities. A key component of our model is the Youth HQ: Community Catalyst, which encourages young people to build organic community connections, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and a sustainable form of engagement. The model promotes greater responsibility and accountability as young people progress, equipping young people with the skills and support networks they need to become active members of their communities.

As an organisation, we are driven by the importance of change and adaptability. Our recent revisions to services, informed by research and the lived experiences of the young people we work with, reflect our forward-thinking ethos. BYSA is more than just a service provider, we are a committed organisation focused on addressing systemic disadvantage and creating lasting opportunities for young people.
