Organisation Summary

CALM Youth is a registered Victorian charity and Public Benevolent Institution born out of Melbourne’s northern suburbs, built by the community, for the community, with every facilitator under 25 and drawn from the same streets as the young people they serve.

CALM Youth believe young people from Melbourne’s north don’t need saving; they need belief and access to ownership of their own life. Their vision is a world where young people are empowered with the freedom, confidence, and connection to shape their future. Their mission is to inspire the next generation of leaders by backing them with the tools, networks, and relationships they deserve.

The young people they work with are not defined by what they lack. CALM Youth operate from a passion-based framework, meeting young people through what lights them up, not what has gone wrong. Where other services begin with deficit, CALM Youth begin with potential. This approach sits at the heart of everything they design and deliver.

Their work addresses three losses common across Melbourne’s north: loss of belonging, loss of agency, and loss of visible pathways. Through a three-pillar framework — Collaborate, Connect, and Confidence – they run programs including CALM Cuts, CALM Coach, CALM Sport, IPTP, and CALM Future Ready across 24 schools and community partnerships in Hume, Whittlesea, Merri-bek, and Darebin. Young people move through their ecosystem from participant to peer mentor to paid coaching roles at partner sporting clubs. The community builds itself.
