Cancer Wellness Support

Cancer Wellness Support has delivered affordable person-centred care since 2005. Our community-led community-organisation is dedicated to ensuring accessible local care for individuals and their families living with cancer in the Blue Mountains, Penrith, and Hawkesbury regions of New South Wales. Our mission is to help people maintain their sense of control and balance during cancer treatment while offering emotional, social, and practical support. Through a range of subsidised complementary therapies, programs and services, we aim to reduce isolation and enhance the wellbeing of those affected by cancer.

The issue we address is the increasing demand for cancer care services in Australia. With cancer being the leading cause of death in the country and over 1 million Australians living with or having survived cancer, the need for holistic support is growing. Our organisation’s focus on complementary therapies, such as counselling, oncology massage, and meditation, has resulted in a 35% increase in service delivery over the past year, with 6,849 therapies provided in 2023-2024.

Our three priority projects include addressing the growing demand for affordable lymphedema support, building capacity in the expanding Penrith community, and broadening our services to continue comprehensive carer support. These initiatives are essential to ensuring that we can meet the increasing need for our services.

Cancer Wellness Support is uniquely positioned to meet these needs, as we offer affordable, compassionate care that complements traditional medical treatments. Funding will allow us to expand our capacity, services, and even look to expand our community-led model to service other regions.
