Caritas Australia is the international aid and development agency of the Catholic Church in Australia and a member of Caritas Internationalis, one of the world’s largest humanitarian networks, operating in more than 160 countries.

For over 60 years, Caritas Australia has partnered with vulnerable communities to address poverty, inequality and injustice. We work across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and with First Nations communities in Australia, supporting locally led programs in climate resilience and water security, sustainable livelihoods, food security, education, health and gender equality.

Our model is partnership based and community driven. We work through trusted local organisations that understand the cultural, social and economic context of their communities. This ensures programs are relevant, sustainable and continue beyond the life of grant funding. We prioritise long term development outcomes while retaining the capacity to respond rapidly to humanitarian emergencies through the strength of the global Caritas network.

Caritas Australia is accredited by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is a signatory to the Australian Council for International Development Code of Conduct, demonstrating strong governance, financial accountability and effectiveness.
