The Centre for Women’s Economic Safety Ltd (CWES) exists to support women and non-binary people experiencing economic abuse in the context of family violence and catalyse action that improves women’s economic safety.
Our goals are to ensure every woman in Australia can access free, economic abuse specialist services and information to support their economic safety, and raise awareness and understanding of women’s experiences of economic abuse to inform improved social, economic and service systems responses. Our Money Clinics support women directly in individual appointments with financial abuse specialist financial counsellors and our financial safety website provides information, tools and contacts for people seeking assistance. CWES brought Economic Abuse Awareness Day to Australia in 2021 and continues to lead awareness-raising of this common form of family violence.
