- Social inclusion and justice
Target Population
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Change the Record is Australia’s only First Nations-led coalition of legal, health and family violence prevention experts. They work to end the systemic violence and over-incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Everything they do is strength-based, culturally focused and grounded in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination and rights. They work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to invest in holistic early intervention, prevention and diversion strategies. These are smarter, evidence-based and more cost-effective solutions that increase safety, address the root causes of violence against women and children, cut reoffending and imprisonment rates, and build stronger communities.
Change the Record is determined to:
1. Close the gap in rates of imprisonment by 2040;
2. Cut the disproportionate rates of violence to at least close the gap by 2040 with priority strategies for women and children.
Change the Record has Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) as an auspice.
