Children of Cambodia is an Australian charity working in partnership with rural Cambodian communities to transform lives through access to education. Our mission is to break down the barriers that prevent children from attending school, such as poverty, lack of transport, and limited access to classroom resources, so that every child can access education and the opportunity it brings.
We work directly with community and school leaders in the Ruessei Lok and Sangvaeuy communes to remove these barriers by providing school uniforms, stationery, bikes for transport, and essential teaching resources. In the past, we have also delivered vital infrastructure, including new classrooms, although this has been paused in recent years due to the fiscal environment.
Since 2010, we have supported over 38,000 children, and today we support 3,500 students across our 11 partner schools. We are uniquely positioned to do this work thanks to long-standing relationships with local communities, a dedicated team, and a clear, community-driven approach.
Our current priority is to expand our support to previous levels so we can once again deliver much-needed infrastructure, such as new classrooms. Following this, we aim to maintain high attendance rates; particularly addressing the concerning attrition between Grades 3 and 5 that recent data has highlighted.
Funding directly enables us to continue providing core educational materials, upgrade infrastructure, and support teacher development.
