Compassion North

Compassion North was founded as Roxburgh Park Community Church Facilitation Ministries Inc. in 2008. It’s first significant community initiative was a foodbank that provides quality food free of charge to disadvantaged families in the Hume municipality. As community needs grew, we established a second foodbank in Wallan in 2018 and two Men’s Sheds. In 2019, we restructured and became Compassion North Incorporated.

The Issue We Address:
We are committed to empowering disadvantaged residents to become independent by building supportive networks and providing essential resources. The primary focus at the moment of Compassion North is our foodbank program, which aims to reduce food insecurity and foster community connections. We address the ongoing challenge of rising living costs and social disadvantage by providing free, reliable access to healthy, culturally appropriate food and essential material aids through our weekly foodbank services in Craigieburn and Wallan.

Our Impact and Current Priorities:
We support around 50 households weekly in both Hume and Mitchell Shire/Whittlesea. Our referral networks with councils and social services allow us to reach those most in need, and client feedback highlights improved financial stability, health, and well-being. Our priority is to maintain and expand the quality and consistency of our food supply, including purchasing fresh produce, protein, and dairy, to meet increasing demand and enhance client satisfaction.
