Compassionate Hearts on the Bellarine

Compassionate Hearts on the Bellarine is a volunteer group which provides support to people with life limiting illnesses, their family and carers, to live well within the community through to the very end of their lives. Compassionate Hearts is helping to create more connected and caring communities to support people at a time of greatest need. Our trained volunteers provide emotional and practical support to families in addition to the palliative care provided by the medical professionals.

The support offered by a volunteer may include:
• companionship and socialization
• a listening ear
• short respite for the carer (to have a coffee, have a haircut, play golf, go fishing, etc)
• life story listening and writing
• pet care
• assistance with transport
• light errands
• music therapy

Compassionate Hearts on the Bellarine also educates our local communities about life-limiting illnesses, dying and the challenges of grief and loss. We advocate for a deeper understanding of the importance of living well and preparing for death.
