Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation

The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation is a First Nations-governed not-for-profit that exists to create vibrant and exciting platforms for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and designers. We are owned by 94 Indigenous Art Centres and peak bodies, representing thousands of artists, over half based in the Northern Territory.

Our flagship event, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF), showcases contemporary Indigenous art from more than 75 Art Centres annually. Since 2007, DAAF has generated well over $30 million in direct returns to artists and Art Centres, sustaining income, employment and intergenerational knowledge transfer in remote communities. We also lead Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP); a nationally recognised platform supporting First Nations designers through mentoring, runway programs, and the annual Country to Couture runway and National Indigenous Fashion Awards.

First Nations Art Centres are vital hubs for cultural expression, economic resilience and community wellbeing. DAAF Foundation works alongside them to provide the opportunity to sell directly to the public. We are uniquely positioned as an Indigenous led organisation to deliver culturally safe platforms that directly benefit the remote Art Centres that we serve.

Philanthropic support enables us to expand platforms available to First Nations Art Centres, artists and designers, to create professional pathways, deepen development programs, and build a more sustainable creative economy for artists/designers.
