Meet the Movement Fighting Online Harm in Australia. Standing Guard in the Digital Age.
Digital Defence is a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating a safer, fairer and more inclusive online environment for all Australians. We focus on the systems, policies and institutions that shape people’s experiences online and work to address the structural causes of digital harm.
We were established to respond to the growing gap between how digital systems currently operate and the real-life impacts they have on individuals and communities. From flawed content moderation systems to weak enforcement of online safety policies, we focus on the areas where change is most needed and most achievable.
Our work is campaign-led and impact-focused. Each campaign targets a specific area of reform where current laws, platform processes or public responses fall short. We engage with government, industry, educators and the community to work to improve how online safety is understood and enforced.
