Disability Sports Australia

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is a national non-profit, registered charity, and National Sporting Organisation for people with disability. We are dedicated to increasing participation in grassroots sport and building the capability of the sector to deliver inclusive and accessible opportunities.

For over 60 years, DSA has been at the forefront of disability sport in Australia. Beginning with wheelchair sports, we have continually expanded opportunities for people with disability across the country. Today, we are proudly disability-agnostic, working across all sports and all disability groups to ensure every person can be involved in the way that works best for them.

Our vision is lives and communities changed through the power of sport. Our mission is to improve opportunities for people with disability to be involved in sport in the way they choose.

Australians with disability remain underrepresented in organised sport, despite their strong interest in being active. Barriers—whether physical, social, or systemic—continue to limit participation and prevent equal access. DSA addresses this challenge through national initiatives including Abilities Unleashed, Building Inclusive Sport Clubs, Accessibility Champion, and the Sports Incubator, which create sustainable opportunities and equip clubs, schools, and coaches with the tools to be inclusive.

Our current priorities are to increase grassroots participation, build the confidence and capability of the sport sector, advocate for awareness and system change, and collaborate across sectors to create accessible pathways.

Funding supports us to expand these programs, ensuring more Australians with disability can participate, belong, and thrive through sport.
