Douglas Vale is a unique, volunteer-run historic homestead and vineyard, created 150 years ago. As a registered charity and not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to preserving Port Macquarie’s rich history. We take pride in producing exceptional wines from our 1-acre vineyard, including the famous Portabella grown from 150-year-old Isabella wine stock, along with Villard Blanc and Chambourcin varieties.
Our heritage museum, housed in the oldest timber building in the Hastings region, offers free tours where visitors can explore the magnificent grounds, which include an orchard, ornamental ponds, a cottage, and rose and vegetable gardens. The homestead and outbuildings are classified by the National Trust of Australia and are on the Council’s list of heritage sites.
We are access-friendly and offer activities for children. Free wine tastings and purchases are available exclusively at our cellar door, featuring two white wines, a rosé, two reds, and the renowned Isabella Port.
