Dymocks Children's Charities

Dymocks Children’s Charities is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children across Australia. For 25 years, we have been fostering a love of reading and providing access to quality books. We do this because children who read regularly and have access to engaging books achieve better educational outcomes and lead healthier, happier lives.

Established in 2000, we have working with communities across Australia to improve children’s literacy, positively impacting the lives of over 550,000 children to date. Despite some improvements, literacy levels in Australia remain of concern, particularly amongst the most vulnerable groups in society.

Dymocks Children’s Charities provide three core programs that deliver brand-new books to children in priority locations around Australia: Book Bank, Library Regeneration, and Lit Club 4 Kids. These programs provide essential literacy resources to children who would otherwise have limited access.

Children gain increased reading opportunities both at school and at home, fostering a deeper connection with books, while school communities benefit from better-resourced libraries and more diverse collections. Parents and guardians become better equipped to support literacy development at home, and in the long term, our work leads to improved literacy skills, stronger educational outcomes, enhanced social and personal development, and greater future employment opportunities for children.
