Millions of girls in rural and tribal India face barriers to education, such as poverty and patriarchy, risking early marriage, exploitation, and intergenerational poverty. Educate Girls is breaking these barriers by mobilising communities and partnering with governments to ensure every girl has access to quality education. We identify out-of-school girls, engage families to send them back and ensure they stay and learn. When formal schooling isn’t possible, we provide second-chance programs for the completion of secondary education.
Since its founding in 2007 by Safeena Husain, the organisation has been working in India’s most underserved regions: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, reaching over 30,000 villages, where we have enrolled 2 million out-of-school girls, and improved learning outcomes for 2.4 million children. Our programs retain 92% of girls year on year, transforming schools cost-effectively. Our goal is to impact 3.1 million learners by 2030 and 10 million by 2035, driving systemic change for future generations
In Australia, we’re proud to be a recommended charity of The Life You Can Save. While we have not established a registered entity locally, we can receive funding via The Life You Can Save and Partners For Equity, with no fees or deductions.
