Endometriosis Australia is the leading national charity dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and funding research for endometriosis, a chronic, inflammatory condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pelvic pain, fatigue, infertility, and significantly impact mental health, relationships, and employment. It affects 1 in 7 Australians presumed female at birth, yet diagnosis can still take over 6.5 years on average.
Our mission is to increase the recognition, understanding, and support for endometriosis to improve outcomes and help those affected thrive. We envision a future where everyone with endometriosis can enjoy life to the full. At the heart of our work is a clear purpose: to ensure people with endometriosis are heard and have access to world-class, evidence-based care that is patient-driven, respectful, and inclusive.
Endometriosis Australia is the only not for profit charity fundraising for seed research, since launching the Endometriosis Australia Research Grant Program in 2017, we’ve distributed over $854,500 in seed funding to support endometriosis research that benefits our community. We also deliver nationwide education and awareness campaigns, with targeted programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQIA+ communities, and adolescents.
Our key programs include:
– Research funding to support new and emerging researchers
– The Endo Academy Nurses Scholarship, training regional and remote nurses
– A Workplace Accreditation Program that supports symptom management at work
– Community education and awareness campaigns
Our current priorities are to reduce diagnosis times, increase access to treatment, and help people live well with endometriosis. Financial support enables us to expand programs nationwide, supporting the care of those with endometriosis.
