Environmental Justice Australia is a public interest legal organisation for environmental justice and a radically better world. Our vision is a safe and healthy planet and thriving communities, served by a legal system with justice at its heart. Our mission is to support clients and communities to use the legal system for a healthy and liveable planet and radically better future.

We run integrated litigation, law reform, advocacy, community participation and communications to achieve maximum impact. We respect the sovereign rights and aspirations of our First Nations clients and partners through early and meaningful engagement and strong relationships. We ensure our work creates equitable and just outcomes for environmental justice communities, and advocate for laws, systems and action that increase equity and fairness. We support and centre our work around the needs and perspectives of impacted communities and those who should benefit from our work, and people participating in government decision-making and legal processes.

Our three focus areas are:

• For a safe climate and equitable future, we represent communities who are working to prevent the biggest sources of climate emissions.
• For nature and people to thrive, we represent communities who are challenging the industries that damage ecosystems.
• For justice and self-determination, we help communities remove systemic barriers to participation and access.
