Organisation Summary

3ZZZ has been broadcasting since 1989, giving Melbourne’s multicultural communities a powerful voice in their own languages on 92.3 FM, DAB+, on digital and social media platforms and worldwide via 3zzz.com.au.

As Australia’s largest multilingual community radio station, 3ZZZ represents more than 60 language groups, 120 programs, 500 volunteers, 3,000 members, and an audience of over 400,000 listeners. They provide an independent and local media platform that celebrates cultural identity, preserves language, and strengthens community connection.

Our broadcasters are trusted representatives of their communities. They deliver news, information, entertainment, and cultural content that cannot be found on any other media service, offering a vital link to heritage, belonging, and community life.

The station shares vital information in language about housing, health, education, employment, welfare, migration, and justice, ensuring new arrivals and established migrants have access to the information they need to thrive.

3ZZZ is a not-for-profit, charitable, and democratic organisation rooted in community control. Members elect program committees within each language group, ensuring that more than 60 community multilingual groups have direct ownership of their media voice.

Serving the 36% of Melburnians who speak a language other than English at home, 3ZZZ is a beacon of unity, diversity, and inclusion. They proudly celebrate multiculturalism and actively work to counter racism, promote social cohesion, and support the cultural richness that defines Melbourne, Victoria and Australia.
