Fauna Rescue Whitsundays is a long-standing, non-profit, voluntary, wildlife rescue organisation, founded on the 7th June 2001, covering a large region of the Whitsunday/Mackay-Isaac areas. We care for, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. We also provide a 24 hour wildlife hotline service and give informative talks to schools and community organisations. We encourage the valuable participation of community members in all our activities.
We provide rescue and care training days for members and interested parties on: birds, macropods, possums, gliders, small native mammals, micro and mega bats and reptiles.
Our dedicated volunteers participate in all aspects of running the organisation. Volunteer roles can include manning the 24hr Hotline, animal rescues, foster caring, rehabilitation of animals, the release of rehabilitated wildlife, community education and fundraising.
Our mission is to provide a successful rescue and rehabilitation service for sick, injured and orphaned Australian wildlife, to help preserve our native wildlife and the natural environment.
We are supported through our own fundraising endeavours, grant applications and donations.
