For Change Co.’s vision is an Australia without youth homelessness. Our mission is to create sustainable pathways out of homelessness so that it is rare, brief and non-recurring. We do this by empowering young people with the tools and skills they need to break cycles of interconnected disadvantage, creating pathways into an adulthood in which they can thrive.

Our flagship program, Pathways For Change focuses on young people aged between 16-24 who have found themselves at-risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. The factors leading to this are diverse but often relate to family violence, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, housing stress, poor employment opportunities and discrimination.
Currently, 75% of young people experiencing homelessness are disconnected from employment or study. Our impact programs seek to reconnect young people with paid, on-the-job training and employment at our four cafes across Melbourne, building the skills, confidence and resilience they need to transition to their next steps in independent living, employment and study.

Our results are striking, with 85% of graduates completing the program going on to further employment and/or tertiary study and secure independent housing. In addition to this, participants note drastic increases in their social connectedness, attitudes towards work and future employability and improved self-esteem and confidence.
