Our vision is a thriving and resilient Gippsland where local people, communities and ideas are supported to flourish. Our mission is to connect generosity with local need by building both a short-term and permanent source of community funding that invests in Gippsland’s future.

While Gippsland is known for its strong communities, natural assets and cultural heritage, many areas face challenges including regional disadvantage, population change and the economic transition associated with shifts in energy and industry. Community organisations across the region deliver vital programs but often face limited and short-term funding.

The Gippsland Community Foundation helps address this by building a permanent regional endowment and directing philanthropic funding to local initiatives that strengthen communities and support long-term regional resilience. As a locally governed foundation with strong regional relationships, we are well placed to understand community priorities and ensure funding reaches organisations making a meaningful difference.

In February 2026, the Foundation was endorsed as a community charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR1) status by Assistant Minister for Charities, Andrew Leigh. This enables tax-deductible donations and supports the Foundation to attract philanthropic investment into Gippsland.

Our current priorities include growing the Generous Gippsland Endowment Fund, encouraging local giving and partnerships, and establishing both an annual grant program and a permanent, long-term enduring fund that supports community wellbeing, opportunity and resilience across the region.
