Girls from Oz is a women-founded and led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the wellbeing of girls living in remote Australia by enhancing education and employment pathways through the power of the performing arts. We utilise performing arts education as an early intervention tool to engage individuals in their schooling, assisting in the expansion of their confidence, skillset and ambition on their pathway to success.
Operating since 2009 we have delivered over 200 Community Programs and 21 Travel Programs, engaging over 4000 girls who have reaped the personal and professional benefits of our inclusive, culturally informed and tailored programming.
We aim to:
- Engage girls in their schooling, enhancing academic motivation and school attendance.
- Boost confidence and an appetite for self-determination.
- Provide a safe space for girls to practise positive risk-taking to explore their voice, identity and dreams.
We operate in:
- Halls Creek (WA) at Halls Creek District High School
- Bidyadanga (WA) at La Grange Remote Community School
- Lockhart River (QLD) at Lockhart State School
- Kowanyama (QLD) at Kowanyama State School
