Gondwana Choirs is the voice of Australia’s youth. Founded in 1989 by Lyn Williams AM, our organisation is home to the country’s leading choral training programs for young people, including the Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana National Choirs, Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir (GICC), and Marliya. Our mission is to shape the Australian sound through exceptional choral work that gives voice to the diversity of contemporary Australia.
Gondwana Choirs addresses a critical need for accessible, high-quality music education. In Australia, access to elite choral training remains uneven, particularly for First Nations youth and children in regional communities. Our programs foster not only musical excellence, but also leadership, cultural connection, and personal development.
We are uniquely positioned to lead this work, having developed a nationally recognised model that blends artistic rigour with cultural integrity. Through First Nations-led programs like GICC and Marliya, including productions such as Spinifex Gum, we empower Indigenous youth to connect to language, culture, and storytelling.
In 2025–2028, our priorities include expanding our First Nations programs, growing regional outreach in NSW, increasing access for Western Sydney families, commissioning new Australian works, and strengthening international touring and recording projects. Funding supports bursaries, tuition-free First Nations participation, and ensures no young singer is excluded due to financial hardship.
Our impact is far-reaching: over 1,500 young people participate annually, and our ensembles have performed on world stages. With your support, we will continue to give Australia’s youth a voice and share their stories with the world.
