Organisation Summary

Greyhound Rescue rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes ex-racing and surrendered greyhounds across NSW and the ACT.

Greyhound Rescue accepts greyhounds from racing, private surrenders and NSW pounds, with no discrimination on age, sex, colour, injury or behavioural history. Veterinary care covers a full health assessment plus vaccination, desexing, dental, parasite control and any necessary treatment. Rehabilitation is force-free behavioural work through weekly onsite sessions with a professional consultant and a behavioural veterinarian, with individual plans recorded in the shelter system. Foster care through the Greyhound Guardians network lets dogs learn family routines. Rehoming matches each greyhound case by case to a suitable home with follow-up support. Community engagement and education counter breed stigma and promote adoption. Together these provide a complete continuum of care from kennels to couches.

Greyhound Rescue is the only independent greyhound rescue facility of its kind in Australia, based at Greysland in Bargo, and has homed 1,693 greyhounds across 696 NSW and ACT suburbs since 2016.
