Gujaga Foundation

Gujaga Foundation’s purpose is to support Aboriginal children belonging to the La Perouse Aboriginal Community by reviving, developing and passing down Dharawal language and culture and by providing assistance to support completion of education and participation in extra-curricular activities. Its vision is to instil a strong sense of cultural identity and belonging wihtin Dharawal children and young people.

We strive to achieve this is through our four work streams:

Language – Ensuring Dharawal Language is passed down intergenerationally within the La Perouse Aboriginal community by delivering language classes to Dharawal people, to the broader community, and increasing the scope of the Dharawal curriculum.

Cultural Experiences – Ensuring Dharawal culture is passed down intergenerationally within the La Perouse Aboriginal community by delivering cultural experiences to Dharawal people, building cultural capacity within them, and creating cultural immersion offerings to the broader community while establishing an income stream for Dharawal cultural practitioners.

Projects and Consulting – Ensuring information publicly shared about Dharawal Language and culture is authentic and culturally appropriate by supporting connecting with Country requests and increasing the number of La Perouse Aboriginal community members with ancestral knowledge.
