Hawkesbury Early Childhood Intervention Service (HECIS) has been delivering early intervention and specialist support services to children, families, and early childhood settings across the Hawkesbury region for over three decades.

HECIS is committed to upholding the rights of all children to access services that promote optimal growth, development, and meaningful participation in early learning. We advocate strongly for children with additional needs to access inclusive, high-quality educational experiences prior to enrolment and to be positively supported in mainstream settings where appropriate. We recognise every child as an individual with strengths and abilities who can contribute positively to their environment.

Our purpose is to provide comprehensive early intervention supports, including speech, language, and educational assessments, individualised program recommendations, and professional guidance for educators within preschool and early childhood services. We also provide advice and support to parents and carers seeking early childhood learning assistance, facilitate referrals to allied health and specialist services when required, and support smooth and successful transitions into early education settings.

HECIS delivers community-based services that empower families within their local area. We value respectful partnerships, cultural responsiveness, open communication, and confidentiality. Families are encouraged to actively participate in their child’s Individual Education Program, ensuring collaborative and meaningful goal setting.
