HOPE started in Mansfield, Victoria in 1988. Over the next decade or so, branches of HOPE were established throughout Victoria and in some other states. The national network of HOPE members and supporters was established in 2007.
HOPE advocates for responsible and sustainable stewardship of the environment and supports the adoption of sustainable, long-term solutions to the manifold environmental problems facing humanity — locally, nationally, and globally.
We believe in the power of communities and individuals to make a difference. Our mission is to encourage people to “Think Globally – Act Locally” by making informed choices that reduce consumption, minimize pollution, and improve quality of life. We aim to raise awareness, foster education, and promote action on environmental issues in all contexts — ecological, economic, and social.
