Organisation Summary

HUG is an Australian based not-for-profit organisation that focuses on establishing sustainable partnerships between two different cultures. We have been working side by side with communities surrounding Lubanda Village, in south-western Uganda since 2008. HUG pro-actively connects Australians to individuals, families, businesses, schools and specific projects in Uganda aiming to have a positive impact on individuals and communities on both sides of the world.

Through ongoing partnerships with local communities we have been able to establish grassroots educational, health and agricultural-based initiatives which continue to empower Ugandan people to make a sustainable difference in their own lives. Projects are established in consultation with local communities and their ownership of the projects is considered essential from the very beginning. We hope to assist Ugandans to fulfil ambitions they have to make a sustainable difference. It is not about giving them a hand out, rather a leg up.
