Inner City Legal Centre

Inner City Legal Centre (ICLC) is a community legal centre based on Gadigal Country in Sydney and has worked for justice, equality and safety since 1980. We are New South Wales’ only specialist LGBTQIA+ community legal centre and the only service in the state providing dedicated legal services for sex workers.

Our vision is a community where LGBTQIA+ people and sex workers can live free from discrimination, violence and systemic injustice and can access their legal rights on an equal basis. Our mission is to provide specialist, culturally safe legal services, drive law reform and contribute to a fairer legal system through community‑led advocacy.

ICLC addresses long‑standing gaps in access to justice. LGBTQIA+ people and sex workers continue to experience discrimination, family violence, housing insecurity, workplace exploitation and barriers to essential services, often compounded by intersecting factors such as poverty, migration status and criminalisation. Despite this, NSW has never provided dedicated government funding for specialist LGBTQIA+ or sex worker legal services.

ICLC is uniquely placed to respond to this unmet need. Our specialist services include the LGBTQIA+ Legal Advice Service, the Sex Worker Legal Service and the Trans and Gender Diverse Legal Service. We combine legal expertise with strong community trust, trauma‑informed practice and rights‑based advocacy.

Our current priorities are sustaining and expanding frontline legal services, strengthening outreach to underserved communities, advocating for systemic reform, and building organisational sustainability. Funding directly supports legal service delivery and policy work, enabling meaningful, long‑term impact.
