Organisation Summary

The K Farmer Dutjahn Foundation (KFDF) works in partnership with Traditional Owners, Custodians, and communities living on sandalwood lands to strengthen regenerative economies and build culturally strong, viable futures. Grounded in respect, reciprocity, and Aboriginal-led custodianship of Country, KFDF stands as a trusted bridge between communities, industry, and values-based investment, ensuring both cultural knowledge and ecological systems thrive for generations to come.

Our Mission
To walk alongside Traditional Owners, Custodians, and communities living on sandalwood lands to regenerate landscapes, strengthen local economies, and build culturally strong, sustainable futures.

Our Vision
A future where Australian Sandalwood is restored, conserved, and regenerated in Western Australia, led by Aboriginal peoples empowered to care for their Sandalwood, their Country, and their Communities.

The Issue We Address
Aboriginal communities hold deep, intergenerational knowledge of sandalwood Country. Yet, their ability to restore and regenerate landscapes is constrained by:
• Limited access to capital and enterprise pathways
• Barriers to market participation and scale
• Insufficient long-term investment aligned with cultural values
Without intervention, sandalwood ecosystems face degradation, and vital cultural knowledge risks being lost. KFDF exists to reverse this trajectory through Aboriginal-led stewardship and regenerative enterprise models.

Why KFDF
KFDF is uniquely positioned to deliver lasting impact because of:
• Aboriginal-led governance: decision-making rooted in community values.
• Trusted partnerships: built through decades of relationships with Traditional Owners.
• Blending knowledge systems: combining Indigenous ecological wisdom with modern regenerative enterprise practices.
• Commitment to community benefit: ensuring that profits and outcomes remain with Aboriginal communities, strengthening
