About Us – Kickstart Kids International
Kickstart Kids International is a registered charity in Australia and the UK, supporting vulnerable children in Kenya through sustainable, locally-led development. Our flagship initiative, Olturoto Children’s Village (OCV), launched in 2014, was created to rescue, empower, and reintegrate abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
In line with Kenya’s care reform agenda, OCV has transitioned from institutional care to a family- and community-based model, focusing on prevention and support. We aim to strengthen family protective factors through various interventions, including safe play spaces and enrichment activities such as tutoring, sports, art, and music offered through our After-School Programme. We believe that when families are empowered and supported, children and communities thrive.
Our vision is for children to grow up in loving, safe family environments without the need for institutional care.
Our mission is to partner with local communities in sustainable, scalable ways to kickstart the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya.
The Funds will support community members, leaders, parents and guardians in increasing their awareness and responsiveness to child protection issues. This impact will be measured through regular Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) surveys. Improved access to supportive services and positive community feedback will further demonstrate progress.
Through these targeted efforts, we aim to enhance community resilience, reinforce protective family factors, and reduce the long-term risk of child-family separations. Ultimately, we are working to ensure every child grows up in a secure, nurturing environment.
