Lisa Fahey Foundation Incorporated

The Lisa Fahey Foundation (LFF) was established in 2005 in memory of Lisa Fahey, with a clear purpose: to ensure that no family with dependent children faces financial crisis because a parent is undergoing cancer treatment.

Cancer brings emotional and physical strain. For many families, it also brings sudden financial instability. When a parent or primary carer is unable to work, income can fall sharply while essential household expenses continue. Utilities, council rates, car registration, and other everyday costs quickly become unmanageable. For families with children, this instability compounds stress at an already vulnerable time.

LFF bridges this gap through formal referral partnerships with social workers at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Lyell McEwin Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Port Pirie Regional Health Service Chemotherapy Unit, Whyalla Hospital, and broader cancer support networks. The Foundation provides targeted, means-tested financial assistance, typically approved within 24 hours. Support is directed to essential living costs, helping prevent disconnection, debt escalation, and further instability.

Since inception, LFF has supported more than 350 South Australian families. Governed by an experienced volunteer Board and supported by volunteer administration, the Foundation operates with minimal overheads and strong financial controls to ensure transparency and accountability.
