One in three Australians has some form of liver disease and many don’t know it. There are over 100 conditions that impact liver health, ranging from genetic conditions that are present from birth, viral infections, autoimmune conditions and lifestyle impacts.

Liver Foundation is Australia’s peak patient representative body. We support all people in Australia with liver disease and liver cancer.

Our approach is to listen deeply to the needs of our diverse community and the health workers that support them. By responding to community developed insights we are able to have an impact far greater than our small size would suggest is possible.

Our focus is on translating research into accessible and actionable insights for patients, their loved ones and clinicians and working towards a world free from liver disease and liver cancer.

Over 58,000 people visit our website for trusted health information each month, one in three GPs (over 10,000) have enrolled in our education programs so they can care for their patients even better, and our expert nurses guide people with advanced liver disease and liver cancer through their journey, acting as a trusted support at a devastating time.

There is so much to do in this under-supported area of health in Australia. The more marginalised a person is, the more likely they are to experience the worst impacts of their liver disease.
