Mama Wimbi is a mothers’ collective in occupied Goma, DRC.
The members now have advanced sewing skills, thanks to SewAid, and strive to use these skills both to house and educate their families, and to equip other children living in absolute poverty to resume and continue their war disrupted education. In January 2026, we have arranged the arrival of a shipment of sewing supplies from our partners SewAid and RCKGM. This will ensure that the SchoolKits for Congo orders for backpacks and uniforms will both provide free SchoolKits to children in need and provide sufficient income for the team to educate their school-aged children from their earned income.
To prevent the expulsion of the 21 team children THIS year, we have raised US$6 000 of the needed US$9 000 and are seeking help to complete securing their school year. Once the Mama Wimbi team is financially independent, we plan to turn our attention to other humanitarian projects in the occupied territories of Eastern Congo.
