The Western Port Biosphere Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fostering a future where people and nature thrive together. Established in 2003, the Foundation manages the UNESCO-designated Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve, Victoria’s only biosphere reserve covering more than 2,000 km² of land and sea.
Through partnerships with communities, government, businesses, and Traditional Owners, the Foundation delivers projects that protect biodiversity, restore ecosystems, and build resilience to climate change. Our work spans threatened species protection, habitat corridors, wetland conservation, blue carbon research, environmental education, and community engagement.
By connecting science, culture, and community, the Western Port Biosphere Foundation plays a vital role in linking local action with global sustainability goals, ensuring the ongoing ecological and cultural health of this internationally significant region.
