Mount Alexander Sustainability Group is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation creating practical pathways to a thriving, resilient, and zero-emissions future in Central Victoria. Since incorporating in 2006, they have empowered local people to take meaningful action on climate change through collaboration, education, advocacy, and on-the-ground projects.

Mount Alexander Sustainability Group’s vision is for a connected community living sustainably within ecological limits. They work across energy efficiency and home electrification, renewable energy, waste reduction and circular economy initiatives, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity restoration, and community resilience.

The challenges of climate change, rising energy costs, resource depletion, and biodiversity loss require locally driven solutions. Mount Alexander Sustainability Group is uniquely placed to respond because of their deep community connections, strong volunteer base, trusted partnerships, and 20-year track record of delivering practical, evidence-based programs that create lasting change.

Current priorities include supporting households to improve home comfort and reduce emissions through energy efficiency and electrification, expanding regenerative agriculture initiatives, reducing waste and promoting circular economy solutions, strengthening community capacity, and building the next generation of sustainability leaders.

Funding will enable Mount Alexander Sustainability Group to grow these programs, engage more volunteers and participants, develop new educational resources, and increase their impact across the region. Over two decades, Mount Alexander Sustainability Group has helped thousands of residents reduce their environmental footprint, supported the uptake of renewable energy and sustainable farming practices, and demonstrated the power of community-led action to deliver local and global benefits.
