Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting vulnerable individuals, women, children and families across the Byron Shire and surrounding communities. For more than 40 years, Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre has provided practical assistance, advocacy and community-based services that help people overcome crisis, improve wellbeing and build safer, more stable futures.
A key focus of their work is supporting women and children affected by domestic and family violence. Through specialist programs and trauma-informed support, they assist victim-survivors to improve safety, maintain housing, access legal and financial assistance, strengthen independence and reduce the risk of homelessness. They recognise the profound impact that violence has on individuals, families and communities, and are committed to ensuring that people experiencing abuse can access support with dignity, respect and without judgement.
Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre also delivers a range of services addressing homelessness, housing insecurity, financial hardship, food insecurity and social isolation. Their programs include homelessness prevention and support, emergency relief, financial counselling, food access initiatives, community meals, family support services and referral pathways to specialist assistance. By addressing both immediate needs and the underlying causes of disadvantage, they help people navigate crisis while building resilience and long-term stability.
