Murrup is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that strives for a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people can create the future of their dreams, whatever that looks like for them.
We do this by partnering with four remote First Nations communities to support more than 1,600 infants and children, and their families, to prepare for school, and thrive once they’re there. We also support young people to successfully transition into a life of their choosing by removing barriers that stand in the way.
Our programs are co-designed with the communities in which they’re delivered, and we employ 100% local staff to deliver them. Because we know that First Nations Peoples hold the solutions, which are based on thousands of years of knowledge and culture.
We work across five streams (early years, school engagement and retention, strong transitions, neighbourhood support and community development) but our program profile looks different in each of our partners communities, responding to each community’s need and aspirations.
Importantly, we also invest in our First Nations workforce, so they have the skills to deliver and lead our programs and rise as leaders in their communities.
