Nina Imani

The vision of Nina Imani is to create opportunities for vulnerable Tanzanian women to achieve lasting financial independence. Nina Imani is Swahili for ‘I have confidence’ and it is confidence that they aim to ignite within the communities they support.

Nina Imani’s partnership with registered Tanzanian NGO The Inuka Tusonge Foundation provides core operational funding and governance support for their vocational training centre for vulnerable young women in the Arumeru District. Together, the two organisations provide access to vocational education, mentoring and practical skills that enable them to build financially independent, self-sufficient futures.

The Inuka Tusonge Foundation provides valuable life skills and skills-based training in areas such as hairdressing and beauty services, food production & hospitality, tailoring, computer literacy and vegetable cultivation. Complementary education includes entrepreneurial training, English-language skills, as well as business planning and legal rights.

Courses run for 12 months, 5 days per week, including a 3 month field study working with local hotels and employers to give students practical insights into a workplace environment. Students are provided a healthy lunch, bus fare and reusable period underwear. A graduation ceremony is held at the completion of the course for students who meet the attendance requirements and successfully master the skills taught.
