Organisation Summary

Onechurch Employment is a social enterprise dedicated to breaking the cycle of long-term unemployment and social exclusion. Our vision is a community where every individual has the mobility and skills to secure a sustainable future. Our mission is to remove structural barriers to work through targeted mentoring, driver licensing support, and vocational training.

In Western Sydney, “transport poverty” is a significant issue. A driver’s license is a prerequisite for over 80% of entry-level trade jobs, yet many at-risk youth cannot complete the mandatory 120 logbook hours due to a lack of access to a vehicle or a licensed supervisor. This creates a permanent barrier to economic participation.

Onechurch Employment is best-placed to address this because we provide the physical assets and the human capital necessary to bridge this gap. We plan to manage the “120 Hours to Freedom” roadmap, providing vehicles and volunteer mentors to facilitate the 70 hours of supervised driving that participants often cannot source elsewhere.

Our current priorities include delivering our mentor drivers licence program and launching a sponsor program for disadvantaged individuals reintegrating into the community. Funding will support the start up costs, mentor coordination, and covering the costs associated with the two identified programs. Our impact is measured by our success in transitioning participants from welfare dependency into stable employment.
