Operantics

Operantics is a Sydney-based independent opera company that’s dedicated to creating transformative operatic experiences that are intimate, inclusive, and artistically ambitious.

Founded in 2015 as a grassroots artist collective, Operantics supports the next generation of Australian opera talent by providing performance opportunities that bridge the gap between training and professional careers. We produce chamber-sized opera and concert experiences designed for non-traditional and regional venues, bringing high-quality music to diverse audiences and communities often underserved by major arts organisations.

Our work spans artistic creation, professional development, and community engagement. We are committed to arts access for young people and regional Australians, with educational programs and artist residencies that nurture creative expression and cultural participation. Our programming includes reimagined operatic classics, new Australian works, and concert series that connect historical repertoire with contemporary audiences.

Funding priorities include expanding regional education initiatives, touring productions to reach new communities, commissioning new work, and providing fair pay and development opportunities for emerging artists and arts workers.

Operantics is artist-led and impact-driven. We believe that opera can be a vehicle for storytelling, collaboration, and social connection—and that everyone should have the chance to experience its power, regardless of geography or background.
