Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) Australia

PBF Australia (Paraplegic Benefit Fund) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing the impact and incidents of spinal cord injury across Australia. Founded in 1984, our mission is to promote injury prevention through education and to support those affected by traumatic injury through peer support and financial protection.

PBF is tackling the life-altering consequences of spinal cord injury through preventative education and lived experience support. However, outdated IT infrastructure is now limiting our capacity to scale, respond quickly, protect sensitive data, and equip our team with the tools they need to continue this critical work.

We are one of the few organisations in Australia that provides both proactive injury prevention programs and post-injury peer support. Our credibility, reach, and lived experience model have seen us engage with more than 200 schools and workplaces, support hundreds of injured individuals in hospitals, and deliver tangible community impact for 40 years.

Funding from the Australian Communities Foundation will:

• Modernise our hardware and software systems.
• Improve cybersecurity and data management.
• Enhance team collaboration and remote delivery capability.
• Enable greater reach of our injury prevention and peer support services.

Our current priority is to upgrade our internal IT systems, and these investments in our infrastructure are critical to sustain and grow our impact in the years ahead.
