Phoenix Community Project Inc is a disability-led organisation where young people with lived experience of
neurodivergence and disability drive real change in their communities. Founded in 2020, we’ve grown to supporting
90 regular participants to becoming a powerful voice for inclusive employment and community participation.
Through our award-winning supported employment programs, young people with disabilities work across diverse industries, from school canteens, landscaping, hairdressing salons, women’s health centres, childcare facilities and major retailers.
Our SLES Academy includes comprehensive social media and content creation training, where young people learn video
production, editing, trend research, and digital storytelling, all skills they use to amplify their own advocacy messages.
Our young leaders have experienced firsthand the barriers in employment systems, but they’ve proven these
barriers wrong. They’ve gained media attention through The Leader newspaper and are now creating their own
digital content to challenge stereotypes about disability and employment.
