Project Norden

Project Norden is a veteran-led Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) dedicated to supporting Australian military and police veterans affected by their service through structured acts of remembrance and service. The charity gathers veterans to attend cemeteries and memorials in Australia and internationally, tending, restoring, and respectfully maintaining the graves and memorials of Australia’s fallen.

Operating across Australia and in selected locations among the 82 countries worldwide where Australian soldiers and police are buried, Project Norden delivers measurable benevolent relief by addressing veteran mental health challenges such as isolation, moral injury, and loss of purpose. Through mission-based volunteer service, Project Norden reconnects veterans with community, identity, and meaning while ensuring no Australian service member or police officer is forgotten. As veterans tidy the graves, we video record, research and then later post the story of the fallen sharing the story across our social media platforms. We now have a reach of over 1.5 million viewers of our reels telling the stories of the fallen.

Project Norden is derived from the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Veteran and Defence Suicide and uses the principles of the scientifically proven ‘5 ways to wellness’ across our project. We work closely with local authorities, the Office of Australian War Graves in Australia and with Commonwealth War Graves Commission internationally.
