Organisation Summary

We are a volunteer-run environmental charity in Lutruwita / Tasmania. Our mission is to help to reverse the extinction trajectories of Tasmania’s threatened wildlife and to urgently improve their survival and protection.
Our vision is “No more wildlife extinctions in Tasmania”.
We are environmental professionals who share the common goal to improve the survival rates for Tasmania’s threatened native fauna.

The Tasmanian Government’s 2024 State of the Environment Report states, “In 2023, 16.5% (76 species) of Tasmania’s vertebrate fauna are listed as threatened (out of 460 species). Six vertebrate species or subspecies have become extinct since European settlement.
The trend is Getting Worse. The number of threatened fauna species has increased in every habitat type since 1995, with terrestrial habitats showing the most significant rise.
Pressures include Habitat loss, fragmentation, climate change, invasive species, diseases, and poor water quality.”

We have active projects to directly address the decline of native bird species most at risk and freshwater burrowing crayfish. We receive no government funding and rely on philanthropic support to assist our volunteer work. We look to use the most cost-effective technologies to improve the longterm survival of threatened Tasmanian fauna.
