Organisation Summary

Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) is an independent not-for-profit established in 2004 to protect and enhance Queensland’s natural environment. Our vision is a Queensland where biodiversity is valued, protected and thriving — securing a healthy, prosperous future for all.

Through our Revolving Property Fund, we acquire, protect and resell ecologically significant land, adding over 101,580 hectares to Queensland’s private protected area network. We also leverage environmental markets and grants to fund habitat restoration, to reverse biodiversity decline and improve landscape connectivity.

Our goals are to: protect nature at scale; restore biodiversity across working landscapes; grow the value placed on nature; and build partnerships that multiply impact.

Additional funding will strengthen our conservation impact across four priority areas:
– Habitat protection (Revolving Property Fund): Identify, acquire and protect ecologically significant land using science-based and economically informed prioritisation.
– Habitat management and restoration: direct resources to actions with measurable ecological return while balancing the need to maintain productive landscapes (where required).
– Community/Corporate engagement: Connect people with nature and empower them to understand, value and act for biodiversity — embedding nature in everyday decision-making.
– Nature reserves: QTFN owns and manages properties in the Daintree, Avoid island (critical flatback turtle rookery in the Great Barrier Reef), and two South East Queensland properties. Aroona exemplifies our integrated approach — combining agribusiness with conservation as a demonstration site for landholders (balancing beef production and biodiversity, incorporating agtech and envirotech innovation).

We are committed to working with aligned partners and funders to scale conservation outcomes for Queensland and beyond.
