Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW is an independent, regionally based charity providing essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need heath care.

Our programs are tailored to provide free of charge, practical, financial and emotional support for families with a sick child, delivered by staff and over 340 volunteers, including:

• Houses in Newcastle & Tamworth providing a place to stay when lifesaving treatment is far from home;

• Newcastle & Gosford Family Rooms, located near children’s wards and within the neonatal intensive care unit, give a place for families to rest and refresh with kitchen, meals, laundry & shower facilities;

• Learning Program providing qualified tutors helping children catch up on missed education and professional development for teachers;

• Forster Family Retreat gives families a week’s holiday to relax and reconnect.

Our footprint serving families extends over 133,000 square kilometres from the Central Coast up to Tweed Valley and west to Walgett and Narrabri regions.

Our funding priority is to strategically scale and expand to meet the unmet demand for services as we experience greater requests for assistance across regional NSW.

In 2025, we supported 6,654 unique families, including 6,992 nights’ accommodation for families in our Houses, 48,509 people taking a break in our Family Rooms, assisted 158 students with their education, and provided 126 family holidays at our Family Retreat.
