Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network Inc. (RIMERN) is a multi-Rotary Club community service and environment project of 22 Clubs. Based in East Brunswick, we collect donated furniture, appliances and homewares and then provide them free to clients referred by member welfare agencies and programs as they are being supported into secure housing after a range of crises.
Our clients may have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, refugee displacement, release from jail, loss from ill health or other hardship, but at RIMERN they are treated with dignity, offered choice and can select everything they need to set up their homes.
RIMERN clients are often singles, couples or mothers with children, moving into very small homes in the cities of Melbourne, Yarra, Stonnington, Glen Eira, Port Phillip, Merri-bek, Darebin, southern Banyule, northern Bayside and southern Whittlesea Shire.
RIMERN is staffed solely by volunteers and currently supplies 8 – 10 full house lots of homewares a week and keeps tonnes of usable homewares out of landfill.
