Second Embrace (auspice CRSA)
Field of Interest
- Individual/family services and support
Target Population
- Asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and people from CALD backgrounds
- People experiencing socio-economic disadvantage or vulnerability
The role of Second Embrace is to provide a humanitarian refugee family, referred by the United Nations, with support for the first year of their settlement. Our role is to assist the family practically and financially with meeting their essential needs including housing, education, health care, transport and employment support. The goal of the program is to empower the family to become self-sufficient and integrated members of the community.
So far, we have been fundraising by running events and asking for individual donations, which has generated about $7,000, with small amounts being raised ongoing. CRSA advise us that we will need at least $25,000 to be able to support the family for the period between their arrival, and when they are connected with Government support services.
Our auspice organisation {Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia) is an independent Australian charity leading civil society efforts to establish community sponsorship of refugees as a common practice throughout Australia, to benefit refugees and Australian communities alike.
