Sisters Inside works alongside women and girls to build them up and to give them power over their own lives. We support women and girls to address their priorities and needs. We also advocate on behalf of women with governments and within the legal system to try to achieve fairer outcomes for criminalised women, girls and their children.
At Sisters Inside, we call this ‘walking the journey together’. We are a community and we invite you to be part of a brighter future for Queensland’s most disadvantaged and marginalised women and children.
We provide the following programs:
– Sexual Assault Program
– Anti-Violence Program
– Child and Parenting Support (CAPS)
– Youth (Violence Prevention) Program – Inside Prison
– Crucial Connection (ReConnect) Program – Mainly Outside Youth Prison, connecting kids with incarcerated families or at risk of incarceration with their community
– Yangah Program – Inside and Outside Youth Prison in SEQ legal, community and bail support for kids aged 10-17
– Youth (Violence Prevention) Program, First Nations Youth’ Art Group – Outside Prison
– Legal assistance through Supreme Court Bail (SCB) Support Program
– Decarceration Program
– Parole Support – Inside all Women’s Prisons
– Advocacy to prevent deportation
– BOWS (Building On Women’s Strengths) Program
– Specialised trans support program
